About Me
Welcome!
My name is Madison Schneider. I was born and raised on a ranch in Hedley, British Columbia. I started thinking about becoming a teacher early on in high school. I enjoyed interacting and helping my younger sister with her schoolwork at a young age, and this started my initial thought to become a teacher. . My commitment to teaching came after just a few short months of volunteering in a multi-aged daycare for my work experience twelve class. After being able to experience a room where I could see students grow and develop everyday, even for just a couple hours a day, I was convinced that a career in teaching would be the most worthwhile career for me. Being that I always had an interest in history, I decided to complete my Bachelor of Arts degree and applied to Okanagan College in Penticton, British Columbia in 2017. After two years, I transferred to TRU where I spent the remaining two years finishing my degree, majoring in History and minoring in English. I also spent this time gaining another degree in Early Childhood Education. I earned my Early Childhood Educator Assistant license a few months before graduating TRU with my Bachelor’s degree in 2021. While finishing up my bachelor’s degree, I applied to the education program at TRU and am currently finishing up my last year of the program at the end of April.

Over the last several years, I have had a lot of experiences that have benefitted my journey as an educator. I have had several nanny positions that have greatly benefitted my understanding of child development, as well as had great experience tutoring and volunteering in classrooms. Over the past few summers, I have worked in a daycare in Princeton, British Columbia, where I was mainly placed in the out of school care room. Here I am able to interact with students from kindergarten to grade five and plan out lessons and activities for the class. This has been one of the greatest experiences of my life that has impacted me. Although this was not a traditional classroom, its structure and routines gave me a very close glimpse at what a teaching position might look like, before I even started the program. At the end of each day, after planning out lessons, conducting them, interacting with all the students, and controlling classroom management, I was exhausted. However, each day I returned extremely excited to do it all again. This was when I knew wholeheartedly that I would love every second of being a teacher and I was extremely excited to start the education program in the fall of 2021. Now that I am nearing the end of my time in the program, I still am just as excited to start my career. I know that teaching can be a demanding job, but it is also one of the most rewarding. I am excited to see where my educational journey takes me and look forward to my future as a teacher.
